Harvest the benefits of Clean Leaf

undefined
Improved Integrated pest management (IPM)

Clean Leaf varieties exhibit reduced attraction to whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and thrips larvae (Frankliniella occidentalis) in comparison to conventional varieties.

undefined
Better working conditions

Clean Leaf varieties eliminate airborne hairs, improving working conditions for greenhouse employees. This allows sustained work with aubergines, reducing the need to switch to more labor-friendly crops.

undefined
Appealing clean fruits

Thanks to the minimized tip damage from thrips, a reduced need for corrective spray treatments and a greener calyx due to absence of hairs, the fruits have an enhanced visual appeal.

Grower’s experience
with Clean Leaf

Juan J. Rodríguez and Francisco Mañas, both aubergine growers in the west of Almería, share their experiences with Clean Leaf’s first aubergine variety: Kesia RZ.

Second generation of Clean Leaf varieties

Our first Clean Leaf variety proved being a great solution in optimalization of integrated pest management. We are now working on our second generation of Clean Leaf aubergines for protected aubergine cultivation. The variety OB1064 has comparable yield as conventional aubergines, making it not only an interesting variety for organic growers but for all protected growers. The complete transition to hairless aubergine will remain an considerable contribution to a sustainable supply chain.
