Rijk Zwaan to showcase innovations and strengthen partnerships at Fruit Logistica 2025
Rijk Zwaan’s presence at Fruit Logistica 2025 shows its commitment to driving innovation and collaboration in the fruit and vegetable sector. From 5-7 February in Berlin (Hall 1.2, Stand D-13), the fruit and vegetable breeding company will engage with visitors and business partners to share its latest product innovations and insights.
Rijk Zwaan’s innovations at Fruit Logistica 2025
“At Fruit Logistica, we’re excited about showcasing innovative products developed by our breeding teams to benefit growers, retailers and consumers,” says Jan Doldersum, Manager Chain & Retail. “One of the highlights is our Tropical Sunshine watermelon – a bright yellow water melon with a delightfully sweet flavour. Thanks to our partnership with retailer Woolworths and growers, this eye-catching watermelon is already lighting up shelves and bringing smiles to consumers’ faces in South Africa, for example.”
Another standout is Tatayoyo®, our award-winning, ready to eat, snack-size pepper, bursting with flavours that received the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2023. “This spring, it will be firstly launched at European Lidl stores thanks to their collaboration with dedicated partners Scherpenhuizen in the Netherlands and Unica Group in Spain. Together, we’re making this bursting-with-flavour snack-size pepper available to even more consumers,” adds Doldersum.

Partnerships in fresh produce
One of Rijk Zwaan’s strengths is that its partnerships go beyond product innovation to create meaningful solutions for the fresh produce value chain. “Collaboration is key to success,” states Doldersum. “By working closely with chain partners, we develop solutions that address specific needs while supporting the supply of fresh, healthy vegetables to consumers worldwide.”
One example is the partnership with Harvest House to develop a mini plum tomato with high resistance to the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV). This tomato provides growers peace of mind while offering the premium taste and appearance that consumers expect. Meanwhile, in snack cucumbers, Rijk Zwaan’s innovations combine exceptional flavour and a deep green colour with crucial mildew resistance, benefiting growers like those in the Fresh Valley group.
